Designing for Wellness and Behavior Change

Workshop at NordiCHI 2012

Sunday 14th of October 2012, in Copenhagen, Denmark

People’s physical, mental, emotional and social wellbeing is important both for individuals as well as communities. Using technologies to encourage users to adopt healthy behaviors, become more active in exercising, engage in social activities and rehabilitate after illness or stress is becoming more and more common in HCI research. Examples of these emerging technologies include mobile phone applications, wearable sports tracking equipment, and social media. The workshop explores the present and future of designing for interactive technology and applications aiming for wellness and behavior change.

This workshop brings together researchers and practitioners from academia and industry with experience and/or interest in user research, interaction design, or concept development in the domain. The workshop welcomes participants representing different backgrounds, such prototyping and user experience design, behavioral sciences such as psychology, and the medical sciences, who do research in this emerging area.
